Hydrogen Industry
Belzona epoxy-based metal repair composites, coatings and linings are specifically formulated to repair and protect equipment in the Hydrogen Industry.
Belzona erosion and corrosion resistant coatings are uniquely formulated for critical equipment such as electrolysers, storage tanks and piping systems as they offer excellent resistance to a wide range of aqueous solutions, hydrocarbons and process chemicals. Offering solutions for the Upstream, midstream and downstream of the Hydrogen industry.
There are several different routes to manufacture Hydrogen, these can utilise a number of different feed stocks, including; Biomass, fossil fuels and water. The energy efficiency and environmental impacts varies greatly on the production method used to produce. Some of the production methods are as follows;
- Natural gas reforming
- Gasification
- Electrolysis
Belzona's erosion and corrosion resistant solutions such as Belzona 1391T are uniquely placed as to target the PEM (Polymer Electrolyte Membrane) and Alkaline electrolysers production process, with these falling well within the temperature range of our solutions and importantly have little to no interaction with sensitive parts of the equipment. Belzona coatings such as Belzona 5892 are ideal for storage of gases and feed material such as Oxygen, Hydrogen and UPW (Ultra-Pure Water).
Our extensive use in other industries in various pieces of equipment, process vessels and materials handling equipment, such as chutes, hoppers and screw conveyors, also help us protect the feedstock material lines required for the production of Hydrogen from Natural gas reforming and gasification. Belzona's extensive history of using chemically resistant coatings including Belzona 1391T in amine strippers (CO2) also allows us to protect vessels used in the carbon capture industry, which is applicable for Blue Hydrogen.
Further to this ISO 24817 and ASME PCC-2 compliant wrap system Belzona SuperWrap II will allow for designed repair of piping systems and assets, while being able to be applied online.
